Clan Donald DNA Project – Haplogroup R1b – Black subgroup

A place for comment and exploration for the Black sub-group of the Clan Donald DNA Project

R1b Black subgroup

The name R1b Black subgroup was allocated by the administrators of the Clan Donald DNA project as a means to identify a distinct genetic lineage and has no other significance. Members of the group can also be found in the Barra R1b1 group of the MacNeil DNA project who are also genetic kin.

Thus far this unusual and distinct signature has been found in individuals with confirmed origins on the mainland of Scotland in the counties of Caithness and Sutherland and on the islands of Jura, Lismore, Skye and the Island of Barra in the Western Isles.
